Cecilia Malizia Obituary

Cecilia M. Malizia, 88, of 65 E. 2nd St., Emporium, PA died at her residence Sunday (February 7, 2016) morning. She was born August 17, 1927 in Port Allegany, PA a daughter of the late Leonard and Clara Fredette Allen. Mrs. Malizia graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1945 and then from Bryant Stratton Business College in Buffalo, New York. On June 12, 1948 in St. Mark Catholic Church she married the late Joseph J. Malizia. She worked at Sylvania until her children were born and later worked at her husband's law office in Emporium. Cecilia was a member of Saint Mark Catholic Church, the C.D. of A, the American Legion Auxiliary (since 1950) for over 66 years and was a charter member of the Cameron County Cardiac Committee. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. Surviving are 1 Daughter: Sharon V. Malizia, Ph.D, 2 Sons: Paul J. (Beth) Malizia, Esq., and Regis J. Malizia, all of Emporium. 5 Grandchildren: Ann Marie (Sujay) Mazumdar, Joseph A. Malizia, Capt., USMC, Thomas A. (Alexa) Malizia, John Paul (Karen) Malizia and Michael (Kim) Malizia and 5 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Parents: Leonard and Clara Fredette Allen, Husband: Joseph J. Malizia who died May 22, 1990, Son: Thomas L. Malizia who died in 1977, 1 Sister: Veronica Safstrom.

Visitation with Video Tribute will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium on Wednesday from 5-7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Thursday (February 11, 2016) at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA Memorial Contributions may be made to Community Nurses Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Rd., Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857
