Stephen W. Galford

Stephen W. Galford, 67, of 551 Sizerville Rd., Emporium, PA died at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2016. He was born June 13, 1949 in Marlinton, West Virginia a son of Mattie Gay Galford Holsinger, St. Marys, PA and the late Dennie Galford. On January 11, 1979 in Emporium he married Rosemary Young, who survives. Mr. Galford worked with his father in the logging business years ago. He then worked for Shippen Township for many years including three terms as the townships supervisor. He owned and operated the former Steve Galford Contracting Company and currently worked for Duffy, Inc., in Smethport. He was a member of the Emporium Lodge #382, F.and A.M., and the First Baptist Church in Emporium. He had a love of the outdoors and always carried a camera on his outdoor adventures photographing various animals. Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife Rosemary Young Galford, and a brother, Frank R. Galford, Emporium. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennie Galford and a step father, Robert Holsinger and a brother, Douglas Galford. A Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday (November 12, 2016) at 6:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Saturday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM where his masonic lodge will hold a Masonic Funeral Ritual at 4:30 PM. Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA
