Valerie I. Spehalski

Valerie Irene Spehalski of 1783 Old West Creek Rd Emporium, PA died Sunday September 25, 2016 at Penn Highlands Hospital in DuBois. Born February 13, 1930 in DuBois, PA., the daughter of the late Joseph Wojtaszek and Sophie Nawakowski. On April 25, 1953 in St. Michaels Archangelo Church in DuBois she married Walter Stanley Spehalski.

Mrs Spehalski graduated from Sandy Township High School with the class of 1948. She was trained by a Catholic nun in the X-Ray department of the DuBois Hospital as an X-Ray technician for a doctor of Radiology. She was employed by the doctor as a receptionist and X-Ray technician. She also worked at the A&P Tea Company in DuBois. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and especially watching her grand-children’s sporting events and all of their accomplishments. She was a member of the St. Mark Catholic Church, the Church Choir and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by three sons, Walter R. Spehalski (and Cecilia) of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Robert S Spehalski (and Julia) of Emmaus PA., and Thomas J Spehalski (and Bonnie) of Emporium PA, and 10 grandchildren, with her first great grandchild due in December. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Walter on December 9, 2010, three brothers, Henry, Carl J., and Edward Wojtaszek and six sisters, Mary Wozniak, Victoria Fotta, Ann Golanka, Estella Lakatos, Alouise Baumann and Stephanie in infancy. Visitation with Video Tribute will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA Memorial Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Cameron Unit, P.O. Box 62, 135 W.
