Rev. John D. Alden, 86, of 209 W. 5th St., Emporium and Lakeland, FL died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys on Monday (November 28, 2011) morning. He was born January 24, 1925 in Van, PA a son of the late John G and Wealtha Cotterman Alden. On July 29, 1950 in North Chili, NY., he married Nina Burls Alden, who survives.

Rev. Alden was a Pastor in the Keystone Confrence of the Free Methodist Church having served as a Pastor in these Pennsylvania towns; Emlenton, New Castle, Sharon, Eldred, Emporium, Bradford and Van. He was a veteran with the US Army during WW II where he served as a Chaplains Assistant in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 4:00-6:00 PM

Funeral Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robert Brest, officiating. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

Burial will be in the Portage Township Cemetery, Gardeau

Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, 1128 State Street, Ste 301, Erie, PA 16501

Sharlene, Marlene and I regret that we will be unable to be at the funeral service for your Dad. We certainly keep you and your family in our prayers, and rejoice to know that Rev. Alden is receiving today the reward he labored so faithfully for. He was a great encouragement to us all, and I will always have fond memories of him from Camp Meeting.
