George C. Sowers

George C. Sowers, 80, of 13355 Route 120, Emporium, PA died at UPMC-Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday (May 11, 2017) evening. He was born October 28, 1936 in Spring Mount, PA a son of the late Warren and Hazel Danekar Sowers. On August 29, 1964 in Spring Mount, PA he married Diane Berry, who survives. George worked for the Cameron County School District as a maintenance supervisor for many years. He and his wife Diane were foster parents for over 30 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. George enjoyed playing guitar and tinkering with his many tractors. He had a great love for God. He is survived by his wife Diane Sowers, son, George T. "Ted" (Penny) Sowers, Emporium; daughter, Joy (Dennis) McKimm, Emporium; daughter, Karen (Keith) LaBrozzi, Lufkin, TX; daughter, Peggy (Gary) Heckman, Emporium; daughter, Andi (Martin Lyon) Sowers, Emporium; son, Steve (Danielle) Sowers, Howard, PA; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, brother, Robert (Eleanor) Sowers, Zieglersville, PA and a sister, Betty (George) Shaner, Fagleysville, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Hazel Danekar Sowers; a grandson, Keith Edward LaBrozzi; two sisters, Delores VanEvery & Patricia Lick; two brothers, John & Warren Sowers, A Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Monday (May 15, 2017) at 6:00 PM with Rev. James Eastman, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Service.
