Gretta Sitnik Obituary

Gretta Jean (Shafer) Sitnik, etter known as Jean or Topsy to friends and family; wife of Paul Sitnik for 63 years. Mrs. Sitnik was called by our Lord on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. She was born September 6, 1925 and reared at her family homestead at Sinnamahoning; the youngest daughter of the late George P. and Zazel M. (Kepler) Shafer. She is survived by her loving children; Gloria Kenney, Hooksett, NH; G. Stephen Sitnik, Warrensville, WV; John P. Sitnik, Falls Church, VA; Mary Sitnik, McLean, VA; Carolyn Meana, Kill Devil Hills, NC; 6 loving grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. Sibling of the late brothers: Ira Mason Shafer; George William (Bill) Shafer; sisters: Ellen Shafer, Julia (Peg) Lawson and Sarah Kessler and an infant brother Harry Shafer. No visitation. A graveside service will be held at Newton Cemetery, Emporium on Thursday (July 6, 2017) at 11:00 AM In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Cameron County SPCA or Cameron County Historical Society.
