Jean Marie Burkhouse

Jean Marie Burkhouse, 86, of 317 E. Fourth St., Emporium, PA died at Lakeview Senior Care, Smethport, PA on Thursday night. (October 4, 2018) She was born June 27, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA a daughter of the late Harrison and Pearl Tompkins Toner. On July 20, 1973 in Emporium she married the late Karl Burkhouse. Jean's first husband was the late William John Foley, Sr. Jean was proud of obtaining her GED later in life as well as her drivers license. She retired from Sylvania where she had worked for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a very active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Unit #6222, Emporium, PA. She loved her pet poodles. She is survived by one daughter, Lillian Mae (Tom) Bailey, Beaver Dam, WI; ten grandchildren including her caregiver Renee (Ralph) McKimm, twenty-one great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by a son, William Foley, Jr., a daughter, Bonnie Foley Rees; and a granddaughter, Nakia Ann Foley. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium, PA on Monday from 11 AM - 1:00 PM followed by a service at 1:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA Memorial Contributions may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 6221, 427 East 3rd Street, Emporium, PA 15834
