Gilbert W Mitchell 82 of Hazelwood, Missouri formerly of Emporium PA passed away on Wednesday (May 1, 2024) at his home in Hazelwood. He was born December 23, 1941 in Newport, Perry County PA a son of the late Gilbert and Harriet Leonard Mitchell.
Gilbert graduated from Cameron County High School in 1959. He earned a bachelor degree from Penn State University and went on to Boeing where he worked as an engineer for many years until his retirement. Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, electronics, genealogy, and collecting model cars.
He is survived by a sister Shirley (John) Lyon, Corry, PA, and two brothers Roy (Ann) Mitchell, Yorktown, Virginia, and Carl Mitchell of Emporium PA.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his companion, Carol Walters.
A celebration of life service will take place at St. Johns Lutheran Church on East 2nd Street Emporium Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11 AM with Rev. Bruce Burkness officiating.
Interment was held at Indian Springs Lodge
