Janice G. Werts

Janice G. Werts, 89, of West Fourth St., Emporium, PA passed away at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Wednesday afternoon (May 26, 2021). She was born March 21, 1932 in Kane, PA a daughter of the late William and Florence Westerburg Gustafson. On August 25, 1956 in Smethport, PA she married the late Dale L. Werts.

Janice graduated from Smethport High School. She was a co-owner of the former Werts’ News and Gift in Emporium for many years. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Emporium. Janice treasured time spent with her family and was loved by many for her quick wit and sense of humor.

She is survived by three daughters, Lori (David) Sullivan; Connie Garrigan; Kristen (Brian) Burfield, all of Emporium; seven grandchildren: Casey (Jason) Hinds, Daniel (Molly) Sullivan, Shannon Sullivan, Cara Garrigan, Jordan (Holly) Garrigan, Blake Burfield and Brooke Burfield; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rich Garrigan, two brothers, William and John Gustafson; and a sister, Beatrice Thompson.

There will be No Visitation. A Private Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Emporium, PA at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA.
