John Dickinson Obituary

John P. Dickinson, 67, of 923 Hillcrest Drive, Emporium, PA went to be with the Lord on Friday morning (April 30, 2021) at his residence with his family by his side. He fought a long courageous battle with renal (kidney) cell cancer. He was born June 10, 1953 in Port Allegany, PA a son of the late Warren "Cotton" and Anna Hendrickson Coast. On April 13, 1974 in Port Allegany he married Christine Hutton, who survives.

John graduated from Smethport Area High School in the class of 1972. He worked at Emporium Hardwoods since 1973. He loved to hunt and fish when he was in better health, and his favorite hunting trip was in Quebec several years ago with his son, Cory, and a few friends. John was a past member of the NRA and the John Berg Memorial Post 976 in Crosby. He enjoyed helping out with the Crosby, PA kids fishing derby when he was in better health. John’s favorite past time was making his yearly homemade sauerkraut with family and friends. John loved his grandson Kasey to the moon and back. Kasey was the world to him.

In addition to his wife Christine he is survived by a son, Cory S. Dickinson, Emporium; grandson, Kasey J. Selb, Emporium; Sister, Laura Covert, Eldred; brother-in-law, Mike Viglione, Grantville, PA; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Warren "Cotton" and Anna Hendrickson Dickinson Coast; step-father, Edward Coast; three sisters, Barbara Stokes, Donna Viglione, and Sally Gates.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 PM. Please limit your stay during the visitation so we can accommodate all who wish to pay their respects. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required. Funeral Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Tuesday (May 4, 2021) at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lionel Owen, Pastor, Christian Missionary & Alliance Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA

Memorial Contributions may be made to Penn Highland Community Nurses, HOSPICE, 757 Johnsonburg Rd., Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to Penn State Cancer Institute in memory of John Dickinson.
