John Fabin Obituary

John A. Fabin, 77, of Driftwood, PA, passed away Monday night following a lengthy illness (January 19, 2026) at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA.

He was born August 12, 1948, in New Eagle, Washington County, PA, a son of the late John and Mildred Plinta Fabin.

On August 21, 1982, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Emporium, he married Kathy Peters, who survives.

John was the owner and operator of the former Fabin’s Service Station for over 20 years. He also worked for many years in the oil and gas industry and later with J & J Service, where he was known for his dedication and skill performing backhoe and earthwork jobs. John took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved talking to people, always conversing in long conversations even with strangers.

He was a longtime member of the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen’s Club, where he faithfully served as Treasurer for many years. John was also a member of the Driftwood Senior Center, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and remaining active in the community.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his son, Jason Fabin of Driftwood; a sister, Diane Kuppelweiser (Rich) of McDonald, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Plinta Fabin; his mother-in-law, Mary Wood; and several aunts and uncles.

There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA, on Saturday (March 21, 2026) at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Gilmore Cemetery, Austin, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, 299 E. Second Street, Emporium, PA 15834, or to the Driftwood Senior Center, 7806 Bridge St., Driftwood, PA 15832.
