Messina R. Burke

Messina R. Burke, 41, of Emporium, PA, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Emporium, PA, on Sunday morning (September 17, 2023). She was born August 13, 1982 in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of James Grey Hodson, Jr. of Emporium and Kimberley Ann Irwin of Emporium. On August 21, 2008 in Emporium, she married Charles Burke, who survives.

Messina graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture and Lock Haven University with a Nursing degree. She loved flowers, reading, and nursing. 

Her greatest joy and accomplishment in this life was her two boys.  

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons, Collin Grey Burke and Brennan Michael Burke, both of Emporium; and a sister, Jessie Rose (Nathan) Peterman, Troutman, NC;

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Raymond E. and Mildred Pearsall Irwin, Jr.; paternal grandparents, James G. and Norma Rose Hodson; brother, Tyler Grey Hodson; uncle, Colin Scott Irwin, and an aunt, Ruth Hodson Broome. 

There will be No Visitation. Services will be held privately with the family.

Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA
