Michael (Mike) Pugh, 65, of St. Marys, formerly Emporium, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 19, 2022. He was born on Long Island, NY on September 27, 1956, the son of the late Jack and Martha Pugh.
Mike graduated from Cameron County HS in 1974 and received a degree from West Virginia University in Forestry. He was an avid Mountaineers football fan. After graduation, Mike returned to the mountains of Emporium which he so loved. He worked for GKN Powdered Metals as a Metallurgist and retired from same. He was a member of the Free Masons and a former member of the Emporium Mountaineer Search and Rescue squad. A comment from a Search & Rescue teammate a number of years ago was – “We don’t need a search dog, we have Mike Pugh”. Mike was an avid cyclist and competed in a number of local bike races. He also enjoyed biking with his wife Lidia on the Rails to Trails path for both fun and exercise.
Mike is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lidia; brother Jack, of Whitefish, MT; sister Ann, of Sterling, VA; nephew Max, of Kalispell, MT; and stepson Edwin, of Tampa, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Jean Jackson Pugh.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11 AM at the Barnett Funeral Home 207 E. 4th St. Emporium, PA. There will be no visitation.
