Mike Allen

Mike Allen, 74, of 526 Old West Creek Rd., Emporium, PA died at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA on Tuesday afternoon (March 9, 2021). He was born November 13, 1946 in Williamsport, PA a son of the late George and Ruth Hamm Allen. On January 7, 1967 in Moore Hill Church he married Betty Freer, who survives.

Mike retired from Carbide Graphite in St. Marys and also from AST in Emporium after many years of employment. Mike also was employed at Walmart in St. Mary’s as an assembly person. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and attended several auto races. He and his wife enjoyed horseback riding and camping.

In addition to his wife Betty Mike is survived by one daughter, Michelle (Thomas) Whissel, Century, FL; one son, Joseph (Sloane) Allen, Emporium; three grandsons: J.T., Zachery and Luke Whissel; three sisters, Dolly Berlinger, Guntown, MS; Tracey (Mike) Harner, Williamsport, PA; Kathleen Shaughnessy, Glen Burnie, MD; and a brother, Jim Allen, Albuquerque, NM.

He was preceded in death by parents, a brother, Robert Allen, and a sister, Georgette "Tootie" Jimenez.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium, PA on Monday from 5:00 - 6:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 6:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating. We are only permitted to have 20 people in the funeral home at a time. Please limit your stay during the visitation so we can accommodate all who wish to pay their respects. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required.

Burial will be in the Moore Hill Cemetery, Emporium, PA.
