Thomas A. Nickler

Thomas A. Nickler, 99, of 110 E. Fourth St., Emporium, PA formerly of Rich Valley, died at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA on Friday morning (January 1, 2021). He was born October 8, 1921 in Emporium, PA the only son of the late Benjamin and Lena Mahon Nickler. He married Marie Williams, who preceded him in death.

Tom graduated from Emporium High School, Class of 1939, and served with the US Army 8th armored division during WW II. He retired from Sylvania where he worked for many years. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Emporium. An avid hunter and fisherman, Tom loved the outdoors.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy (Tony) Lewis, Emporium, PA; Sue Ann (Thomas) Armstrong, Rolla, MO; two sons, John M. (Susan) Nickler, Ballwin, MO; and Thomas P. (Kathy) Nickler, St. Johns, FL; twelve grandchildren: Patrick, Erin, David, Christine, Matthew, Cathy, Michael, Benjamin, Bryan, Christopher, Andrew and Michael; twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

There will be no Visitation. A Private Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Tuesday (January 5, 2021) at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Joseph Short officiating with a Military Service to follow by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Burial will be in the Portage Township Cemetery, Gardeau, PA
