Vivian Helena MacDonald, 101, died on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys, PA after a brief illness. She was born in 1916 in Greenwood Township, Clearfield County, PA a daughter of the late Allen J. and Mabel Burlingame Johnston. Mrs. MacDonald spent her youth and attended schools in Clearfield County before moving to Emporium, where she married the late Alfred “Ackie” MacDonald on June 10, 1942. She was a full-time devoted wife and mother for several years before joining her husband in the operation of his local business. She was dedicated to compassionate care of her husband and parents in their later years. Mrs. MacDonald was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Emporium. She enjoyed her flowers, reading her Bible, cooking, piecing homemade quilts, going for car rides, playing rummy, spending time with family and being at the family cottage in Clearfield County. Surviving are a son Robert A. MacDonald of Clarion PA; A daughter, Linda Kay Lewis, of Emporium, PA; two granddaughters: Rebecca L. Lewis (Damion Pisacane), Belchertown, MA and Suzanne Lewis-Johnson (Charles) of Massillon, OH; four great granddaughters: Josie, Katie, Emma & Jenna Johnson and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband "Ackie" in 1996; and brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Lester & Dale Johnston. There will be No Visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 424 N. Broad Street, Emporium, PA at a later date. Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA.
